Partnerships are powerful - and they take hard work
Over the past year, I have been quietly developing a new specialty: coaching duos who lead social justice work. The leaders I’ve been coaching are committed to making sure that their partnership really works so that they can maximize the benefits of co-leadership and magnify their impact on their teams, their organizations, and our movements. Now, I’m thrilled to formalize this offering and take on a handful of coaching duo clients.
This offering is for:
Co-Executive Directors / Co-CEOs
Executive Directors / CEOs and the “#2” (COOs, Deputy Directors, etc.)
Executive Directors / CEOs and Board Chairs
Leaders from different organizations who must work in close coalition/partnership with one another
Outgoing Executive Directors/CEOs and their successors
Together we Will:
Learn more about your individual and relational leadership, work, and communication patterns
Surface the power dynamics at work in your partnership and explore how to navigate them
Set expectations around communication and collaboration
Define the processes and behaviors that will scaffold your work together
Build (or in some cases, repair) trust and deepen relationship
Engage in regular feedback, building the “muscle” of candid, caring conversation
Create space for reflection
How We’ll Do it:
At least six months of support including-
Monthly duo coaching sessions, with structured feedback, reflection, and practice
One-on-one coaching sessions with each partner over the course of the engagement
The Interpersonal Leadership Styles Assessment and/or 360s for both partners
Background interviews with staff and Board to gain perspective on the partnership
Additional email support as needed
